As the title of this blog references cheer, and I am in fact a cheer mom, I'm dedicating this post to all things cheer.
Grumble, grumble...can't think of anything else to blog about...grumble...
I've been immersed in the world of All Star cheerleading for the past four years. As such you'd think I would have learned a thing or two. NOPE. My friends will ooh and ahh over certain stunts, "Did you see that? That Arabian was freakin awesome!" Then you see little ol me off to the side with confusion swathed across my face. What's an Arabian?
I can't keep any of the terms and names straight! Don't believe me when I say they're confusing? Look at these:
Awesome ( a stunt where the flyer is thrust into the air at high velocity, and then back down)
Candle stick ( exercise where athlete jumps up, throws themselves onto the floor and puts their feet up, and then jumps back up)
Cupie ( Stunt where flyer is lifted into the air on one leg by a single base, holding said flyer with one hand. EECK!)
Cradle ( A form of catching flyers after they've been missiled into the air)
Handspring ( front or back, both are hard. Its a flip flop people)
Heel stretch ( well okay, that one is kinda self explanatory)
Hurdler ( a specific kind of jump)
Liberty (Stunt where flyer is thrust into the air on one leg, with the other leg bent at knee, and hands in a high v)
Popcorn ( I've seen this in pyramids. The flyers jump out of their bases hands only to land where they were as if by magic)
Scorpion ( a deadly venomous spider)---------(Just kidding! It's a stunt where the flyer pulls her leg over her head and then through her mouth!)
Tik-Tok ( A popular song--------Kidding again, lol! This is a stunt where the flyer is thrust into the air on one foot, does a hop, and switches feet. Keep in mind, these girls are being held high in the air, their bases have their arms lifted high above their heads. Its scary stuff.)
There. Hopefully I did those terms justice. I am by no means in the know about this stuff.
I leave you with a video of one of my favorite teams from another gym. Keep in mind people, this is an ALL MALE team. They're great!

Oye! I'm not at home to fix it either, bah!!!!!!!
Hey I was at that competition and although the crowd loves them they were not at their best. But I was definitely on the sidelines cheering them on.
