Okay, now that I've got that out of my system...ahem. Patience is not one of my virtues (snicker). Pretty much anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that when I want something, I expect to get it right then and there. I'm an instant gratification type of girl. Hey! Get your mind out of the gutter please! Humph!
As I was saying, I don't like to wait. For this reason, I don't buy things online because I loathe being at the mercy of the postal system. Although, I do have to say, I always enjoy a package in the mail.
I arrive at movie theaters well before the show starts so I can be first in line. Gotta have me a primo seat. Same goes for my daughters cheer competitions. It's a sickness really.
Then I started submitting my writing for publication. I started querying agents, small publishing houses, you name it, with the hopes of one day seeing the fruits of my labor put in print. I did a lot of reading, and everywhere I turned I kept coming across the same phrase, "Hurry up and wait."
What? Wait? I have to wait? But...but...I HATE WAITING!
Yeah, lol...you see, it doesn't really matter whether or not I have the patience of a saint or if I show up three hours early to the show for good seats, I still have to wait. The road to getting published is a lesson in patience, perseverance and sticking to your guns.
John Quincy Adams said this about patience: "Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish." Pretty cool, huh?
I leave you with these familiar and oh so irritating sayings we've all grown up hearing.
Good things come to those who wait.
A watched pot never boils.
Patience is a virtue.
A rolling stone gathers no moss.
Happy Tuesday peeps!

From someone currently (perpetually) playing the waiting game, it only gets worse :)
