Tattoos- Yay or nay?

Let me just start this post with an admission. I'm a big wuss. There. I said it. It's out. I don't like needles, I freak out at the sight of blood and eyeballs creep me out. I love Grey's Anatomy, but usually end up watching half the show with my hands over my eyes. I'm sorry, but I don't feel the need to watch someone hack into a set of bowels and then drop a spleen on the floor. Bleh!

On to tattoos. They've always been somewhat of a taboo subject for me. Coming from a background where my choices were limited and my creativity stifled, the idea of a tattoo was always forbidden. I wasn't allowed to go there.

As I grew older, the desire to permanently mark myself never went away. I'd see people in stores, out and about on the street and think, "Hey. That's cute. I could do that," but then never gave it a second thought because of my deep and all encompassing fear of needles and pain. I convinced myself I'd never be able to get inked because as soon as the needle hit my skin I'd toss my cookies and keel over.

I'm proud to say, I proved myself wrong! I got my first tattoo the end of last year ( a feminine interpretation of the Celtic Tree of Life) centered on my upper back and I love it. So much so that I want another one. I remember laughing when my friend told me tattoos were like potato chips, you can't just have one. I thought she was silly. Surely I'd feel complete with my single design. I'd prove her wrong, stick with my one tat and be happy.

Yeah...no.

I want one more. That's all. A simple, elegant vine that climbs up the center of my back and meets the design I already have. I don't care that it will be covered most of the time. It's for me. And my hubby, heh heh, who btw, has a very shmexy tribal tat on his arm. HOT, HOT, HOT!!!

I'm pretty particular with what I like. I think tribal tattoos on guys are smokin, and I don't like color. Slap on a bunch of swirling black arcs and swooshes and I'm weak in the knees.





Full body tattoos aren't really my thing. I'm all for moderation. If you've got so many designs on your body, I can't look at you without my eyes crossing and succumbing to vertigo, we have a problem.

So what's your preference? Do you like tattoos, or do you prefer clean, unmarked skin? Chime in with your thoughts. I'll be plugging away on my current WIP today. And the hero? Yeah...he's sporting a tattoo up the length of his right arm, and down the front and back of his right side, similar to the first picture posted above. Woohoo!!
