You CAN teach an old dog, new tricks!

Happy Wednesday, peeps!

Song of the day- Keeps Gettin' Better by Christina Aguilera

Okay, so you all know I have a book coming out.  Like soon (I'm hoping to show you any day now, squeee!)  Anyway, the last few days I've been working on the website for my book.  Let me just throw this out there for ya- I don't know anything about website design.  Zilch.  Zero.  Nada.

I do, however, know how to tweak a blog :)  Heh, heh, heh...See where this is going?

Yup, I totally started a new blog for Eve Of Samhain, and purchased the domain for it.  Yeah, baby!  Lucky for me, I've learned a little thing called patience over the past year. (Waiting for responses on partials and full manuscripts teaches you how to wait, lol!)  So, I sat my determined booty down and researched all the different ways you can tweak your blog, make it different, better.  Yes, I've got a long way to go, and a lot to learn, but man, can I just share with you how proud of myself I am?  I'm no techie, and the few changes I made actually worked.  Woot!

Here are a few of the places I visited and learned from:

Kevin & Amanda blog:  These people are beyond cool.  They not only hook you up with all kinds of free fonts, they supply you with links and a tutorial on how to change your post title fonts etc. using cute, non-Blogger fonts.  Check em out, people!  The process is detailed and slow, but worth it in the end.

The Girl Creative:  Don't like the menu bar Blogger provides you for your pages?  Then I suggest you check this site out.  Here you'll learn how to create your own image files/buttons to create your own menu bar.  Again, depending on your level of expertise, the task may fly by for you, or take a while.  I won't tell you how long it took me, lol!  Make sure you follow the link provided on the site to the second half of the tutorial.  Very helpful!

Parajunkee Design:  This gal is a kick butt blog/web designer and was kind enough to place a link on her site with free tutorials.  It was here I learned how to change the domain for my blog, among other things. She also runs a top notch review site with helpful hints for bloggers there as well.

Okay, that's all for now, lol.  Not gonna reveal the new blog until I get my cover art.  Once I do, it's on, baby!  Don't expect anything super fancy or mind altering, ha!  It's a basic site, yes, but it's mine and I'm proud of it :)

Happy Wednesday!

Congratulations on the book and the soon to be revealed new blog. It is a constant learning process for me--this techie stuff.

Thanks, Wendy. Yes, it is a never ending process for sure :) I have to say, though, I'm enjoying learning all the technical stuff. What I can understand anyway, lol!

Your blog looks awesome! For the life of me I can't figure out how to make a cute header...you'll have to be my yoda-master! lol

Kristin- Do you have photoshop? I think you can even use paint to make banners. It's not too hard, just time consuming.

Great links!

If you don't have photoshop, you can download Paint.net for free. It's a great graphics manip software. :)
