Feel the burn

Yeah, I'm feelin' the burn all right.  What's left of it anyway.  And I'm not talking about the kind of burn you get when working out.  I'm talking, chicken fried skin over eighty percent of my torso because I didn't put enough sunscreen on kind of burn. Yeeeoucch!

Oh yeah...Happy Monday! Song of the day- Magic by B.o.B.  I might have used this song already last week, I can't remember and am too lazy to go back and look.  I don't care.  The song rocks!

So, I don't know about you, but my holiday weekend rocked!  Here's a quick recap since I'm sure you're just dying to know all the juicy deets of my life...NOT!

On Friday, the girls and I headed over to the Ruth's house for the afternoon.  The ladies of the SC (minus, Ed) watched Remember Me, with Rob Pattinson.  Such a good movie!  Tore my heart out.  The kids swam in Lake Ruthessa (the Ruth's pool) for the entire afternoon, and were good and tired when we got home.  Yeehaw!

Saturday morning we got up at the ass-crack of dawn and headed out to Pinecrest.  This state park is beyond beautiful and the Ruth and Sanchez families had a blast hangin' on the beach and cooling off in the water.

Despite slathering on copious amounts of sunscreen, we all managed to come home with a sunburn and sand in places we'd rather not mention. And get this... Not sure how I managed it, but I have two white patches on my tummy reminiscent of crop circles where I must not have rubbed in my sunscreen good enough. Sigh...

For me, the highlight of the day was watching Kendall and Jessica flirt with a couple of cute boys we affectionately named "The Face" and "The Body."  The nicknames pretty much say it all.

People watching was pretty damn fun too. Which leads me to this public announcement. People...Unless you are a size ZERO...PLEASE refrain from squeezing yourself into a string bikini ten sizes too small. Or a Speedo for that matter.  I don't particularly want to check out your junk or your gratuitous display of back fat.  I've hidden (or at least I tried) all of my fat under my clothing, and I wish you'd do the same!

The girls and I spent a better part of Sunday nursing our tender skin and cursing our apparent ineptitude with regard to sunscreen application.  Other than "I'm tired and I'm hungry: Ow, Mommy, it hurts," were the only words my children uttered.

After purchasing a big-ass bag of candy (cuz yeah, I'm totally the bomb), the girls and I headed out to our favorite spot to watch fireworks with the rest of the gang, minus my hubby who had to work (Boo.) The kids got their sugar on, the moms talked a bunch of smack and good times were had.  All in all, I'd say the weekend was pretty awesome.

What about you?  What did you do over the fourth?
